Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to the VibePinas channel. Today, I’ve got a bone to pick, but I’m doing it with a smile. I’ve been getting "yelled at" quite a bit lately—not by Jessa, though that happens too—but by what I like to call the "Internet Police" in my Facebook comments.
Apparently, I’m doing everything wrong! According to some people, my land is too messy, the wild grass is a haven for snakes, and our house is way too cluttered. Well, to the Internet Police: thank God for you! What would I ever do without your constant guidance on how to live my life?
But in all seriousness, take a look around. Where is all that grass you were so worried about? It’s gone! We had a plan to clean the land all along. We’ve even chopped up the trees, leaving only the heavy ones that I’ll need a bit more strength to move.
The thing you have to understand is that we only have so many hours in a day. Jessa and I are building a house, raising a child without nannies, and managing multiple full-time jobs. Our boy, Liam, is a handful and has some behavioral issues we’re dealing with ourselves. We aren’t superhumans who never sleep. Sometimes, you have to tackle projects one by one. The road was a priority, then clearing the land, and next will be the fence.
As for the snakes everyone is so terrified of? They really aren't a problem as long as there is movement on the land and a dog around. Snakes don't like humans; they stay away. We didn't clean the land because of snakes; we cleaned it because I’m highly allergic and we simply want a clean space.
I’ve also had people commenting on photos of our storage unit, saying, "Oh my god, it’s so cluttered! How can you live with no windows?" Well, it's a storage unit. And about our house—by mountain standards here in the Philippines, this is already one of the nicest houses around, and we haven’t even finished building the main part yet! The walls people are complaining about are temporary; they’ll come down when the balcony and laundry room are finished.
It doesn’t matter if you have ten dollars or a million dollars in the bank; you should never get "high on yourself." Some of the people criticizing us seem to have forgotten their roots. We are real people living a real life with real chores. We don't have a team cleaning up after us—it’s just us.
Right now, my priority is supporting Jessa. She is incredibly successful, nearing 5 million followers, and I am so proud of her. We work as a team. Instead of paying an agent 30%, I’m helping more with her content and the back-end stuff to keep the success in the family. If one of us succeeds, we both succeed.
So, if you see a bit of a mess in our house or on our land, just know it’s because we’re exhausted and busy living. We’ll get to it when we have the time. We’re heading into town now for a late lunch and to fix my motorbike—don't worry, Liam has his helmet!
