Good afternoon and welcome back to the channel! It’s another beautiful day here in Cebu—a perfect mix of clouds and sun that makes the heat actually livable. Today, Jessa and I are out on a bit of a mission. We’re driving up into the mountains of Ginatilan, and I have two main goals: making a commercial for a product in my web shop and checking out a potential piece of land we might be able to buy.
I decided to take the Kia and put it into 4x4 low-drive mode to have some fun on the mountain trails. I’m telling you, this car is amazing. It has an anti-slip differential, which is something you don’t even get in 90% of the 4x4s out there. It can go anywhere, but Jessa never seems to believe me.
The drive up was... well, let’s just say it was "eventful." Jessa was in the passenger seat, and every time the car tilted even a little bit or went over a steep ridge, she started screaming. At one point, I thought we were going to flip over just from her reaction! I love these little moments with my wife; it’s all good fun, even if she thinks my driving is scary. We finally reached a spot with an incredible view, and I managed to get the shots I needed for the shop video.
While we were up there, we looked at a house being built by a foreigner nearby. It’s a good size, and it gave me some ideas for our own future home. I know one thing for sure: when Jessa and I build, it’s going to be a fully cemented house. We’ve learned from the cabins that cement is the way to go here if you want something that lasts. We don't have a final blueprint yet—we usually just have some loose ideas and then do whatever fits best at the time—but we know we want to live in the mountains.
Speaking of land, we’re going to visit an old lady who owns a plot nearby. We can’t exactly afford to buy it outright right now, but I’m hoping we can make an "intention to buy" and set up monthly payments until we can finish it off sometime next year. Fingers crossed she’s open to a deal!
Back at the house, I’ve been thinking a lot about building a small office for myself. Living with a toddler, a wife, and three teenagers is great, but it makes "brain work" like coding nearly impossible. One little comma error in ten pages of code can lead to an hour of extra work just to find it, and it’s hard to focus when someone wants to watch TV, or I’m needed to hold Liam for "just two minutes." Having a quiet space would also help with the web shop shipping, where a simple mistake can cost me dearly. Eventually, when we leave, the office can become a shed for Jessa's mom to store animal feed and clothes.
To end the day, Jessa somehow managed to trick me into letting her drive. Let’s just say I’m still a bit nervous from that experience!
