Good afternoon and welcome back to the channel! After months of hard work and staying at home, we finally made it to the city for a much-needed break. We’re currently staying at the Lex Hotel in Cebu City, and I have to say, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster start to our vacation.
We kicked things off with the hotel’s breakfast buffet. Liam wasn't exactly thrilled about waking up early—he was practically begging for more sleep—but once he saw the food, he changed his tune. I was actually quite impressed with the spread. It’s not the biggest buffet in the world, but the quality is high. I haven’t had a hotel breakfast this good since we stayed at the Quest Hotel about three or four years ago. They had everything from garlic rice and chicken adobo to a proper egg and pancake station. I even treated myself to some of their cake because, hey, I’m on vacation!
However, my "vacation" didn't exactly start on time. As often happens in the life of an IT guy, I had some urgent work pop up. I ended up stuck at my laptop until late in the evening while Jessa and Liam headed down to the pool. To make up for the lost time, we decided to extend our stay by an extra night. The hotel was great about it and gave us a really good rate, so now I can actually have two full days of doing absolutely nothing but relaxing.
One of the highlights of the day was a bit of a "family project." After seeing how well I did cutting Jessa’s hair recently (you can check her channel for that video!), I felt pretty confident in my barber skills. I decided it was time for Liam’s very first haircut by Daddy. Jessa was a bit skeptical, and Liam wasn't too sure about the whole thing either, but I set up a chair in the room and went to work. I have to say, I did a fantastic job! He looks so handsome now. I might have found a second calling—Aksel the Barber has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
After the haircut drama, we headed to the pool. Jessa complained it was a bit cold, but for a Norwegian like me, it was perfectly refreshing. Liam had a blast "swimming" and dipping his nose in the water, though he did start shivering after a while, so we had to call it a day. The pool area is really nice.
We ended the day with a bit of a funny language game. Jessa tried to trick me into teaching her Norwegian words, but I think I managed to hold my own. She’s convinced I was making up some of the words—like "tallerken" for plate or "gaffel" for fork—but that’s just how we speak back home! We also had a bit of a fast-food fail when we went to Burger King for Jessa's "four-cheese burger" craving. Naturally, they got our order wrong, but after a long day, we just ate what we got and enjoyed the "junk food" treat.
It feels so good to finally be out of the house and away from the daily grind. We’re just taking it slow, watching some Seinfeld in the room, and enjoying being a family.
