Good afternoon and welcome back to the channel! It’s the day after the fiesta, and Jessa and I are heading down to Moalboal for a very special reason. We’re going to be staying there until tomorrow to celebrate a massive milestone: Jessa has officially hit one million followers on TikTok!
I am so incredibly proud of her. Her YouTube is also doing fantastic—she’s at around 128,000 subscribers there, and I’ve just hit 28,000 myself. I’ve been a bit quiet lately because I’ve been buried in my regular business work and, honestly, I’ve been fighting a bug that just won't quit. But in a couple of weeks, I should be back to a more frequent upload schedule. My plan for VibePinas is to focus more on tourist information and "big picture" videos rather than just daily vlogs, so stay tuned for that.
Before the fun could start, we had to get organized. Packing for a single day at the beach is always an operation with Jessa. While I can pack my life into a bag in five minutes, she takes about five hours! She apparently needs three different swimsuits for one day—a bikini, a "cover," and two other swimsuits. I’m just wearing the shorts I’m driving in. I’m easy; she’s... well, she’s Jessa!
Once we got down the mountain to Moalboal, we stopped at Neptune, which is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. They have this coconut chicken soup that is absolutely out of this world. However, after all the heavy fiesta food yesterday, we decided to play it safe and go with a light fish soup to stabilize our stomachs. Liam was in high spirits, running around and keeping us on our toes as usual.
Today was finally the big beach day at White Beach. The weather was a bit touch-and-go—it was actually raining quite a bit when we started—but I knew if we just drove five kilometers in the right direction, we’d find the sun. And I was right! We managed to rent a spot on the beach for 400 pesos. Pro tip: If you ask the parking guards nicely, they can often point you toward a cheaper rental than the standard 600-peso tourist rate.
I have to be honest, though: I was pretty disappointed when we first arrived. The beach was incredibly dirty—covered in garbage and hard objects. It’s sad to see, especially when they charge a 25-peso entry fee per person. In Thailand, you’d see people raking the sand every evening to keep it pristine. Here, they just seemed to kick the trash back into the ocean, which means it just doubles up the next time it washes ashore. Luckily, it did get a bit cleaner toward the afternoon, but it wasn't what I expected for such a famous spot.
We spent the day in true "Dahl Family" style—which apparently means we both end up working anyway! Jessa was busy editing her celebration video while I was rendering some footage on my laptop. We did manage to get some swimming in, though. We learned one important thing today: Liam is not a fan of the sand. He was okay in his little baby float in the water, but the moment his feet touched the sand, the waterworks started!
To cap off the celebration, we headed out for a nice, quiet dinner. No "party-party" for us; after the madness of the fiesta, I’ve had enough of crowds for a while. We found a lovely, silent spot where I had a beer and Jessa and Liam shared a mango shake. It was the perfect way to end the day.
Tomorrow morning, it’s an early start—5:00 a.m.—to head to the city to get the car’s fan fixed and drop off some tax papers.
