The Dahl Family Relaxes At White Beach Moalboal

After being stuck at home sick for about a week, I finally started feeling well enough to get out of the house. It’s been a rough stretch, but there’s nothing like a family day to help you get back on your feet. We decided to head over to Moalboal to just relax, get away from home for a bit, and spend some quality time together.

The plan was simple: hit White Beach, let Liam play, and maybe visit a friend before grabbing a nice dinner. Liam was originally pushing for a "dinosaur" playground, but since we were heading to White Beach, he had to settle for the sand and the water. Jessa was all ready for her "photogenic" moments—she even had a special outfit picked out for her swim!

We had a bit of a funny start in the car. I had a Sprite Zero, and Liam decided it was his. If you know Liam, you know that once he claims something, there’s not much "Daddy" can do about it! We also had a minor "fast food" debate. I’m really trying to cut back on the junk, so I told him no McDonald's today. Of course, he’s a professional negotiator, so he still managed to secure some fries.

Once we got to White Beach, we spent a few hours just hanging out. Even though the weather turned a bit gray and moody, it was still a great time. Jessa and Liam spent over an hour in the water playing. I didn't go in for a swim myself, but I enjoyed watching them and taking in the atmosphere. I even had a few sips of a beer—just a taste, since I was the designated driver.

One of the highlights of the beach was trying some local fruit. It was that perfect mix of sour and sweet. I joked that it reminded me a bit of Jessa—sometimes sour, sometimes sweet, but always beautiful!

On the way to visit our friend Jim, we had a bit of a "Liam disaster." That boy is like Houdini; he managed to escape his car seat for the third time! I had to pull over immediately to get him strapped back in. It’s always a challenge when he decides he’s done being restrained, but safety first, always.

Unfortunately, the day ended on a pretty sour note. We went to a restaurant, and it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had since moving to the Philippines. It took an hour and a half for our soup to arrive, and nearly two hours for Liam’s fries!

What really bothered me wasn't just the wait—things happen—but the fact that the staff kept lying to us about the status of the food. We eventually just paid for what we had and left.

Despite the "dinner drama" and the car seat escape, it was still a much-needed day out. Being back in the fresh air with my family was the best medicine. Thanks for sticking with us through the ups and downs of life here in the Philippines!
