The day didn't exactly go as planned, but that’s just how life in the Philippines works sometimes! We were supposed to bring the boys to school, but we woke up to a total brownout. With no electricity, it gets way too warm inside, so we decided to call it a "no school" day. Liam was pretty happy about that—he definitely prefers the beach over the classroom!
Since we were free, we packed up and headed to Moalboal. Even though the day was spontaneous, we still had some big items on the checklist. First up was a trip to the dentist for Jessa. While she was getting her "grill" looked at (she came out with some bright orange bands that looked pretty cool!), the boys and I hung out. We passed the time with some ice cream, biscuits, and a bit of soda. Liam even managed to squeeze in a nap; that boy can sleep through anything!
Once Jessa was done, we were all starving. The boys were pushing for McDonald's, but Jessa and I were a bit tired of fast food. We compromised—Liam got his fries (if he doesn't get his fries, he will cry), and we found a great local spot for the rest of us. I had some delicious Buko, string beans, Pancit, and pork. There’s nothing like a local meal to keep you going.
The afternoon took an interesting turn when we met up with Jessa’s friend, Emily, and her husband, Bruno. We also had our friend Jim with us. Bruno and Emily have a property that’s up for sale or "rent-to-own," and since Jim is looking for a place, we went to check it out. It was a slight change of plans, but it’s always good to help a friend find a potential home.
The best part of the day was the evening. We got invited over to Bruno and Emily’s place for dinner. They are such wonderful hosts and always serve the best food. While Jessa and Emily caught up, the kids had a blast in the swimming pool. It wasn't the beach, but they didn't care—they were just happy to be in the water.
Bruno and I shared a couple of bottles of wine and had some great conversation. It was such a relaxed, beautiful evening. I even joked that it’s great having two drivers in the family because Jessa could take the wheel for the drive home! We ended up staying until about 9:00 or 10:00 PM before heading back.
Between the social time, we also managed to move the needle on our own land projects. We checked on some papers regarding our water connection and building clearance for our fence. We’ll have to head back on Wednesday to finalize things, but it feels amazing to see everything coming together little by little.
It started with a brownout and ended with wine, good friends, and progress on our future home. I’d call that a pretty successful day in Moalboal. Thanks for following along with our journey!
