Good morning from our very first day of the big road trip! It’s about 7:00 AM, and while the weather outside looks beautiful right now, Jessa is... well, let's just say she’s not exactly a morning person. I had to go through the usual routine of waking her up with the promise of breakfast, but our handsome little man, Liam, was already wide awake and ready to go.
The plan for today is to kick off our vacation by visiting a few flower parks and checking out a zipline cafe. This road trip is a big deal for us because I’m also using it as an opportunity to film content for my new website. It’s a bit of a "workation"—I get to experience these amazing places with my family while also getting some work done. After today, the plan is to head north to a water park and then the zoo, before doing some serious island hopping in Northern Cebu. Eventually, we’ll make our way all the way to Manila and maybe even Palawan if we can figure out the car logistics!
We started the drive with high spirits, but true to form for this time of year, the weather decided to turn. By the time we reached our first stop, Sirao Flower Garden, the sun was gone, and it was raining. We decided to sit in the car for a bit to wait it out. It was a Saturday, so even with the rain, the parking situation was absolutely chaotic—no system at all! Luckily, I managed to find a spot where we wouldn't get blocked in.
We paid 70 pesos each for Jessa and me (Liam was free) and headed inside. I’ve been here before "COVID times," and while the plants were mostly the same, it felt a little more developed and picturesque. There are so many spots for photos, including a giant hand you can stand in and a windmill that gives you a view of the whole park.
Next, we drove just a few hundred meters down the road to the Adventure Cafe. I was really hoping Jessa could go for a zipline ride, but the weather had other ideas. It was so foggy and rainy that the zipline was closed. Still, the cafe itself is exactly how I remembered it. We sat down for some "cafeteria-style" snacks. We ordered two servings of "Puto Maya"—sticky rice with mango and hot chocolate. It’s a classic, and at around 100 pesos, it’s a great deal.
To round out the day, we made one last stop at another flower garden, Alejandra. Since it was still raining, Liam and I stayed in the dry comfort of the car while Jessa braved the weather to get some footage and photos for her own channel. She’s becoming quite the pro at making her own review videos!
By the time we got back, I was exhausted, but the work didn't stop. I’ve got a mountain of editing to finish over the next few days to get into "full travel mode." I’ll be burning the midnight oil tonight so we can enjoy the rest of the trip.
