Good morning, world! I’ll be completely honest with you: yesterday, I reached my absolute limit. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, working until 2:00 or 3:00 AM and getting back up at 6:00 AM. We’ve had so many things to organize and so much paperwork to handle that "enough is enough." Today, The Dahl Family is taking a much-needed break. We’re heading to White Beach here in Moalboal for a proper beach day.
Our first little mission was picking up some new beach toys for Liam. We accidentally left his old ones at the beach last time, so we grabbed him a new bucket and spade for about 60 pesos. It’s a small price to pay for a happy boy! I also made a quick stop to grab some sodas and medicine, and then we were ready to hit the sand.
The weather today is absolutely stunning—perfect for the beach. When we arrived, I was so relieved to find that it was a "clean" day. Sometimes the tide brings in a lot of debris, but today the water looked great. More importantly, it was quiet! Usually, there’s "boom boom" music blasting from every corner, but today it was just the sound of the waves. This is exactly how I like it.
We settled into a nice spot, and while Jessa, Liam, and her brother Darrel headed down to play in the sand, I took a moment to just sit back and relax. I ordered a Sprite, a cup of coffee, and some food. It’s working—the relaxation is finally kicking in. I even had a bit of a "daddy moment," just watching my beautiful wife and handsome boy from a distance while I recharged.
For lunch, we decided to try something a bit different. We bought a whole bag of seashells from a local vendor for about 200 pesos. They were fresh and actually really delicious. Jessa had to show me the technique for eating them—you basically rub them together to get the meat out. She even tried to trick me into eating the "black part," but I’m onto her!
Of course, a beach day with Jessa wouldn't be complete without a photoshoot. She was fully in "artist mode," posing for TikTok videos and getting covered in sand for the perfect shot. I spent a bit of time in the water with Liam, and it was great to see him enjoying the waves. He eventually traded the sand for some jelly ice cream, which seemed like a much better deal in his opinion!
As the sun began to set, the "dreaded" moment arrived: the Balut. If you don’t know what Balut is, just Google it—it’s a developed embryo, and it’s a local delicacy here. I’ve tried it once, and it was horrible; the feathers and the texture are just not for me. Jessa always claims to love it, but she spends forever "preparing" it because I think she’s actually a bit nervous about eating the bird part on camera! I made sure to film the whole thing as "proof" that she actually ate it. She struggled a bit, but she’s a Philippine girl through and through.
We had originally planned to go out for a big dinner, but after a full day of sun and sea, we’re all completely wiped out. We’ve decided to just head home, have a simple meal, and get some rest. It’s been a perfect, quiet day, and exactly what I needed to get my energy back for the work ahead.
