Good afternoon and welcome back to the channel! Today is Wednesday, and I’m finally taking a breather after a marathon work session. Yesterday, I was glued to my desk from 7:30 in the morning until 11:30 at night. I figured if I just powered through all my tasks in one go, I could actually enjoy today and tomorrow with the family. Liam was getting pretty bored being stuck inside, so today is all about him.
We started the morning with a bit of "car therapy." I decided it was high time to get the car properly cleaned. We took it down for a full wash and vacuum. I originally wanted to get the engine washed too, but the guys working there today didn't seem too confident about doing it, so I decided to play it safe and save that for our next trip to the city. There’s nothing like the feeling of a clean car, though—it just makes the drive feel smoother, doesn't it?
While the car was being pampered, Jessa and I grabbed a quick bite.
After the car was sparkling, we headed down to Panagsama Beach. We ran into a bit of a situation with some "track riders" who wanted to charge us 100 pesos just to park in a public area they had nothing to do with. I’m sorry, but I’m not giving away 100 pesos to people just standing there. We ended up driving a bit further and found a legitimate spot for 40 pesos. It’s the principle of the thing! We spent some time just walking the beach and letting Liam take in the sights. It’s such a beautiful area, even if it can get a bit chaotic with the tourist crowds sometimes.
Once we got home, it was my turn to take over the kitchen. I decided to whip up some "comfort food"—the kind of meal that reminds me of home, even if it’s not the healthiest thing in the world. I prepared a dish with chicken, smoked bacon (never buy the honey-cured stuff for this; it’s too sweet!), and mushrooms.
I also made some green beans with fresh garlic and more butter on the side. Jessa was kind enough to handle the rice—jasmine rice, of course, because it’s sticky and delicious. I even made a homemade sour cream dressing to go with it, though Jessa, being her usual self, preferred her own sauces. I tried to be fancy with the plating, but I’ll admit I messed it up a little bit. It doesn't matter, though; it tasted exactly like it was supposed to.
As we sat down to eat, Liam finally woke up from his nap, just in time to join us. My workday isn't quite over yet—I still have about three or four hours of coding and admin work to finish before I can call it a night—but having this time with Jessa and the boy makes the long hours worth it.
