Welcome back! Today’s update is a bit different and a lot more serious than our usual mountain adventures. We are currently in Cebu City, and I wanted to take a moment to talk to you directly about what’s happening on the ground here with the COVID situation. I know many of you watching from Norway, the US, and all over the world have been asking how we are doing and what the restrictions look like in the Philippines right now.
Living in the city during this time is a complete contrast to our life in Ginatilan. Back in the mountains, you have space, fresh air, and a sense of freedom. But here in the city, everything feels much more confined. There are checkpoints, health protocols, and a general sense of uncertainty. For Jessa and me, the stakes are even higher because, as most of you know, Jessa is pregnant. We aren't just looking out for ourselves anymore; we’re looking out for the health of our growing family.
In the video, we talk about the local quarantine status. Cebu has been through various levels of lockdown, and it’s been a challenge for everyone to keep up. We discuss the importance of following the rules—not just because they are the law, but because it’s the right thing to do to protect the community. Jessa is being extra careful, staying home as much as possible to avoid any risks. It’s not easy being stuck indoors when you’re used to the open air, but she’s handling it with her usual "jolly" spirit.
We also touch on the reality of the hospitals and the healthcare system here. There’s a lot of concern about capacity, and for an expectant mother, that’s a heavy thing to think about. We’re doing our best to stay informed and stay healthy. I’ve always said that I prefer the "free aircon" of the mountains, and being stuck in the city heat with a face mask on only makes me miss Ginatilan even more.
One thing that has really kept us going is the incredible support from our followers. I was reading through the comments, and the amount of love we’ve received is overwhelming. Many of you have been sending Jessa advice for her upcoming delivery, reminding her to talk to the baby and keep her spirits up. It’s amazing to see how our small channel has connected us with people who genuinely care about our safety.
This situation won't last forever, and we’re already looking forward to the day we can head back to the mountains permanently. For now, we are playing it safe, staying grounded, and focusing on the arrival of our little one.
Thanks for checking in on us. It’s a tough time for the world, but we’re getting through it one day at a time. Stay safe, stay real, and I’ll see you in the next one!
