Welcome back ! Today, we’re doing things a little differently. You know how much I talk about hating the city life—the noise, the pollution, and the lack of that mountain peace we have in Ginatilan. But sometimes, we find ourselves stuck in Cebu City for logistics or errands, and we have to make the best of it. So, instead of complaining about the concrete jungle, Jessa and I decided to bring the beach to us—literally.
We are staying in a spot with a plain, ordinary rooftop, and as a bit of a joke (and a creative challenge), we decided to transform it into our own "home-made rooftop beach." It’s not about some fancy infinity pool or a high-end resort; it’s about that DIY spirit and finding a way to have a "jolly" time wherever you are. We’re taking a regular, dusty city rooftop and, for a few hours, turning it into our own tropical getaway.
The highlight, of course, was seeing Jessa and little Liam embrace the vibe. Jessa is always the life of the party, and she took the "rooftop beach" concept and ran with it. Watching her play with Liam in our makeshift setup, with the city skyline as a backdrop, was a hilarious and heartwarming contrast. It just goes to show that "paradise" isn't a location—it’s a state of mind (and maybe a bit of creative set-dressing).
I wanted to capture this because it’s a big part of our personality. Whether we’re dealing with a truck accident on a mountain road or the "abandoned" state of our temporary cabin, we always try to find the humor and the light. This "beach" was our way of claiming a bit of joy back from the city. It was a moment of connection for the three of us—just a "sweet" family time away from the cement mixers and the "bukid" logistics.
