Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to VibePinas. This is a really tough one to share. Super Typhoon Odette hit Cebu incredibly hard, and we’ve been left devastated. We returned to find our home completely destroyed—it’s heartbreaking to see all our hard work gone in an instant.We’re essentially homeless right now, and seeing Jessa so emotional just breaks my heart. However, we’re trying to stay strong and are beyond grateful that our family is safe. That’s the most important thing. It’s going to be a long road to recover and rebuild, but we’re holding onto our faith. See you in the next one!
Part 2: Apocalyptical Destructions
Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to VibePinas. This is the second part of our update on Super Typhoon Odette, and the destruction across Cebu is truly apocalyptic. Driving through the city, it’s hard to process—countless homes are flattened, and massive trees and power lines are blocking almost every road.The scale of the damage is overwhelming, and it's heartbreaking to see so many people struggling without basic necessities. We’re doing our best to document the situation and share what’s happening on the ground. Part 3: It's All Mostly Gone
Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to VibePinas. This is Part 3 of our Super Typhoon Odette update, and I have some tough news—many of our video files were corrupted, but we’re pushing through to show you what’s left.
We finally reached our house in Ginatilan, and seeing the damage was devastating. The roof is mostly gone, and so much of our equipment—cameras, computers, and electronics—is ruined by water. Despite the heartbreak, we’re grateful our family is safe. We’ve decided to let Jessa’s parents move in once we fix the roof. The road back is long and dangerous, but we’re staying strong. Part 4: Where To Go Now?
Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to VibePinas. In Part 4 of our update on Super Typhoon Odette, we’re still navigating the aftermath in Cebu. The cleanup has begun, and it’s a relief to see the roads finally being cleared so we can move around.
We’ve been searching for a stable place to stay since our home was destroyed, and I’m so thankful we’ve found a temporary spot for our family to hunker down. It’s a bit of a waiting game now, but being together and safe is what matters most. We’re staying patient and strong as we plan our next move in this "new normal." See you in the next one!
Part 5: It's Christmas, And We Are Homeless
Hey there, it’s Aksel! Welcome back to VibePinas. This is Part 5 of our typhoon update, and it’s Christmas Eve. To be honest, this has been the toughest Christmas of my life. With no house and limited electricity or water, we’ve been staying at a lodge just to have the basics.
Thanks to a kind viewer, we managed to have a nice Christmas dinner and even took a boat trip to a white beach for a small escape from the "crisis mode." We also spent a very humble New Year’s Eve cooking beef soup in an electric kettle. It’s not the celebration we imagined, but we’re safe and together. Here’s to a much better 2022.
