In "Pinay's Are Telling Us How Bad We Are At Having A Vacation😅", I wanted to address the feedback we've been getting about our trip to India. Honestly, it’s been a bit surprising to see people frustrated that we chose to visit the beaches in Goa when we already live in a place like the Philippines. For me, this video is about setting the record straight and defending our right to explore the world as a family.
I start by calling out a bit of a double standard I noticed in the comments. Some people were upset that Jessa pointed out how clean the beaches are here, feeling like it was a jab at the Philippines. But I have to be real: in my experience, the beaches I’ve seen in India and Thailand are often better maintained. In Goa, I see crews out there every day raking the sand and keeping it spotless. Compare that to some of the spots we’ve visited back home, like Moalboal or Siargao, where the trash in the water can sometimes be overwhelming. Seeing Liam play in clean sand without me having to worry about garbage is a huge win for us, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise just to be polite.
I also wanted to tackle the idea that because we live in a tropical paradise, we should never want to see another beach. It doesn't make sense to me. I’m from Norway—a country famous for its snow and skiing—but that doesn't mean I’m banned from enjoying the mountains in Switzerland! The vibe here in Goa is just different. The endless beach shacks, the way everything lights up at night, and the overall atmosphere offer an experience we just don't get at home.
But this trip isn't just about the sand and the water. We’ve been busy exploring spice markets, trying incredible street food, visiting temples, and so much more. Most importantly, I shared that the real heart of this vacation was for Jessa and me to reconnect. We’ve had a tough few months, and we needed this time to find our way back to each other as a family.
At the end of the day, my message to everyone is to just relax and enjoy the journey with us. I’m not going to apologize for loving India—it’s been freaking amazing. Instead of getting offended by the comparison, I’d rather see it as a motivation for the Philippines to do better with beach maintenance. For now, we’re just focusing on being present and enjoying every moment of this adventure.
