Hey there, it’s Aksel! It has been an absolute whirlwind week here, and I wanted to walk you through everything that went down. This wasn't just any normal Monday; it was a day of huge transitions for our family.
The big headline? We finally said goodbye to our trusty car that’s been with us for three years and eight months. Selling a car in the Philippines can be quite a process, and this day was no exception. We had a long drive ahead of us to San Fernando to meet the new owners and get the deed of sale notarized. It was surprisingly emotional. That car saw us through everything—from massive typhoons to road trips spanning the entire length of the Philippine islands, from the far south to the north. But as they say, out with the old and in with the new!
But wait, the day didn't start with the car sale. First, we had some shopping to do! Since my old bike was six years old and starting to show its age, I decided it was time for an upgrade before things really started falling apart. We headed over to the dealership with a clear plan: two new motorbikes.
For Jessa, we picked out a Honda Beat. It’s a perfect little automatic scooter for her because, as many of you know, she’s quite petite. It was actually the only quality Japanese brand scooter where she could comfortably reach the ground! For me, I went with the Honda TMX Supremo 150. I’d been eyeing it for a while. I knew the gear ratios and the extra power were exactly what I needed. Watching Jessa get excited about her first bike was a highlight, even though she doesn’t quite know how to ride yet—that’s a project for another day!
After dropping the cash for the bikes (they don't take cards, so we had to make a trip to the ATM!), we left them at the dealership to pick up later. Then came the bittersweet moment: delivering the car. We met the new owners, a lovely woman, and after finishing the paperwork, she was even kind enough to have a friend drive us back toward where we needed to pick up our new rides. Talk about "lucky"!
Fast forward a week, and life with the new bikes is great. The TMX Supremo is such a massive upgrade from my old Kawasaki; the ride is smoother, and it just feels solid. We also made a bit of a last-minute decision regarding my old bike. Instead of selling it, we’re keeping it and fixing it up for Jessa’s family.
