It was Saturday, and The Dahl Family was back on the road for another spontaneous adventure. After the stress of moving and handling business papers, we needed a day to just be outside. The plan was to head toward Oslob to see some monkeys and maybe a waterfall—if Jessa could actually find one that wasn't dried up!
But first, as we always do in the Philippines, we started with food. I went 100% local again.
After fueling up, we made it to the monkey viewing area. It’s a bit of a hike up several steps, and honestly, we arrived a little late for the main feeding. There were only about five or seven monkeys hanging around, but it was still great to see them. I’ve been here before, but things have changed, so I’m planning to come back earlier next time for a proper review.
Liam was much more excited about the monkeys this time than he was when he was younger. We saw a mama monkey with a tiny baby, and another one eating an egg—which was a first for me! I had to warn everyone to keep their belongings secure because these monkeys will steal anything that isn't bolted down. Liam even got close enough to touch one of the "kind" ones on the tail.
Unfortunately, the waterfall part of the plan was a bust. Everything is dried out because of the summer heat; we definitely need more rain. Instead, we visited an old temple area just outside of Oslob. It was a beautiful, serene spot to just walk around and take in the fresh breeze. I haven't been there since before Liam was even conceived, so it felt like a lifetime ago. Being a tall Norwegian, I had my usual struggle of bumping my head on everything—the architecture here isn't exactly built for people my size!
While we were relaxing, I took a moment to explain why I haven't been uploading as much lately. Between my international corporation and Jessa’s business, I’ve spent the last few days buried in taxes.
Of course, a Dahl family day wouldn't be complete without some "behind the scenes" action. Jessa is absolutely addicted to making her videos, and I caught her running into the shade—not because she was hot, but so she could see her phone screen better to edit! I even got roped into one of her dances against my will.
We ended the day at Gaisano to grab some supplies. Jessa is heading back to the city in a day or two to settle more taxes, so I needed to stock up on some simple food I can cook while she’s away. It was a perfect Saturday—a little bit of culture, a little bit of nature, and a lot of family time.
Thanks for following our journey!
