We’ve had a busy few days in the city, and we finally got back home at 3:30 in the morning, just in time for Liam’s school run. But the big news—the news we’ve been waiting for—is that we finally found a new house to rent. Honestly, if this didn’t work out, we were ready to just build a temporary structure on our own land, but luckily, we found a much better solution.
Our previous house might have looked beautiful and "luxurious" on the outside, but living there was a nightmare. We went months without water inside the house. The landlord’s "fix" was to cut the water supply to the interior and leave us with just one outside tap. For 20,000 Pesos a month, that’s just not right. Then there was the electricity—it was genuinely dangerous. Every time we used the oven, the lights would flicker so badly that it would ruin my video recordings. Nothing in that house could run at full speed.
The build quality was just as bad. The windows were practically falling out, and despite a year of promises, they were never fixed. It felt so insecure; anyone could have easily gotten in and stolen my computer equipment, which is worth hundreds of thousands of Pesos. Even the front door didn't lock properly from the outside! And the paint? It was so poor that if you put a piece of clear tape on the wall, the paint would come right off with it. We were just done with it all.
So, we’ve moved! Our new place is what I’d call a "regular" house, and we’re paying half the price—only 10,000 Pesos a month. It’s not "finished" in the traditional sense; the contractor stopped working because he wanted more money than originally agreed upon, but for us, it’s perfect. It has plenty of space, and most importantly, it’s functional.
I’ve already set up my little "office" corner. It’s not fancy, but from this little spot, I manage my web stores, my IT company, and my hobby site.
The location is a bit more suburban, and some might think we’re "far off," but the deal we got is fantastic. We have a gate for security, and of course, I have Jessa—who’s like a little pitbull if you make her angry! One of the best perks so far is the electricity bill; because of the location and the way the house is set up, we haven't even needed the air conditioning yet.
We’re still settling in, so the place is a bit of a mess, but it already feels more like a home than the "luxury" house ever did. We’re officially leaving the drama of the old house behind. Next up, we’re heading to Manila for a few days, but I’m already looking forward to coming back and really making this place our own.
