I’m checking in from VibePinas for a bit of a tech-focused family adventure as we head into Cebu City. It’s not every day we make the long trek into the city anymore, but today we had a special mission: Buying A New Camera For Jessa in Cebu City. We’ve realized that to keep bringing you the best quality videos, we really needed to upgrade our gear.
The trip started early—so early it felt more like night than morning! Before hitting the road properly, we had to stop for fuel, and not just for the car. I was the hungry one for once, so we skipped our usual bus station stop and found a new spot where I tucked into some cow intestines, while Jessa had clams and we got some soup for Liam. It might not be everyone’s idea of a "healthy" breakfast, but it kept us going for the long drive ahead.
By the time we arrived in Cebu City, Liam was absolutely bursting with energy. I have no idea where he gets it from after such a long journey, but he was ready to run! We checked into our place, and I spent a bit of time testing my own new DJI camera, comparing it to my old setup. The difference is night and day—it’s much less grainy, even if I’m still perfecting the settings.
The next morning, I let Jessa and Liam sleep in while I got some work done. Around 6:00 AM, I had a quiet solo breakfast and caught up on the news before waking them up for the main event. We headed over to Ayala Center Cebu with a clear plan: first, sell Jessa's old GoPro to a buyer we’d met online, and then use that toward her brand-new camera.
While waiting for the buyer at Bo’s Coffee, we treated Liam to a "decent lunch" of chocolate cake. He practically polished off the whole thing himself! Once the old camera was officially delivered and the cash was in hand, Jessa headed over to SM Mall to track down the camera she really wanted—the Insta360 Ace Pro 2.
Unfortunately, we hit a bit of a snag. It turns out the Ace Pro 2 was sold out everywhere in the city, and there were even some rumors floating around about technical issues with that specific model. Jessa was a little disappointed because it had some cool features she was looking forward to, but we had to make a decision. Since we can’t wait forever and we really need the upgrade for our upcoming content, she decided to get the exact same camera I have—the DJI Osmo Action 5.
Even though it wasn't her first choice, it’s still a massive upgrade from her old GoPro. I know she’s going to be incredibly happy with the quality, and it makes our workflow much easier since we’ll both be using the same system. We celebrated the successful purchase with one last meal in Carcar on the way home, officially welcoming Jessa’s new "workhorse" to the family.
It was a long, tiring couple of days, but well worth it. Investing in better equipment is our way of saying thank you to all of you who follow our journey. We want the views of the mountains, our construction progress, and our daily life to look as crisp and clear as possible.
