Good morning from Siquijor! Yesterday was a big day—we celebrated our anniversary, and it was a fantastic experience. We’ve managed to find a really nice place to stay for our first few days here, and I’m genuinely impressed with the room. It’s 7:00 AM, and while the island is just waking up, I’m getting my computer unpacked to get some work done before we head out to explore. The weather is absolutely perfect right now.
We grabbed some breakfast at the resort around 7:00 AM, but by noon, I had to make a slight change of plans. The weather turned a bit uncertain, and since I need completely blue skies for the ad videos I was planning to shoot, I decided to postpone those. Instead, we turned today into a "trip down memory lane." Siquijor is full of history for us, especially from back in 2020 when we were stranded here during the pandemic.
Our first stop was "Get Wrecked," a spot I used to frequent for their burgers when I was stuck here. Their burger sizes are famously inconsistent, but they’re always good. As Jessa says, in the Philippines, you never skip a meal! After lunch, we visited some of the guesthouses where we lived for quite a while during the lockdown.
We also stopped by "Monkey Republic," which is where we spent the longest period of time during our "stranded" months. It’s now being rented out as a studio, but for us, it’s where everything changed. It’s where Jessa made her very first TikTok video that went viral—reaching 170,000 views in just a few days. Three years later, she has over two million followers across her platforms. Seeing where it all started makes me incredibly proud of how far we've come.
After the nostalgia trip, we took Liam to the Enchanted Balete Tree for the fish spa. This was the big test—would he love the fish tickling his feet or be terrified? It turns out he was a bit of both! It’s a very ticklish sensation, and some of the bigger fish are surprisingly rough. At one point, I thought I must have really "dirty feet" because they were all over me! Liam was hesitant at first, but eventually, he didn't want to leave and actually started crying when it was time to go. It’s such a great, affordable place to visit with the family.
We ended the day with a quiet dinner—pork and vegetables—as the clouds started rolling in. Since the weather isn't cooperating for my work videos, we're just going to relax, see what tomorrow brings, and plan our next move based on the sky. Siquijor always has a way of keeping you on your toes.
