Good morning from Bantayan Island! We’ve been here for a little while now, and it’s finally starting to feel like the end of this leg of our trip. The last few days have been a bit of a blur because I’ve been incredibly busy. I haven’t uploaded a video in a while, simply because I was buried in a big project.
We’ve been staying at a very budget-friendly place, Edson Apartment, for about 650 pesos a night. It was perfect for when I needed to hunker down and work. The internet was reliable enough for my needs, especially using our own connection, and you really can’t beat that price for economic travel. But now that the work is mostly behind me, it’s time to switch back into "vacation mode."
To start our transition, we moved over to Chef Panyang Beach Resort at Kota Beach. It’s a beautiful spot right on the water. Today is also Valentine’s Day, so I wanted to make sure it was a special day for Jessa. I woke up early to arrange a little surprise breakfast, though the weather had other plans. It’s been raining quite heavily, so our plans for kayaking and exploring caves are currently on hold.
Despite the rain, we had a nice breakfast by the beach. I did catch a bit of grief from Jessa, though. I ordered her some chili squid, and she complained it didn't have enough flavor! She’s persistent, though; she even went out to get me a Valentine's gift. She was very proud to tell me that since she’s making her own money now, she could finally afford to buy me something without asking me for the funds. It’s amazing to see how much she’s grown.
As much as we’ve enjoyed the white sands of Kota Beach, all good things must come to an end. We’re currently packing up the car to head back toward Cebu City. The weather forecast for the next few days looks pretty rough, so our timing is actually quite lucky. We managed to get a cheaper boat back for about 2,425 pesos for the car plus the port fees. Jessa was a bit nervous about the wind and the waves, but it was actually a perfect day for the windsurfers we saw out on the water.
We’ve arrived in Cebu City and checked into Pier Quattro. It’s a simple hotel with a decent breakfast buffet, which is all we need before a big day of shopping tomorrow. After that, we’re heading back to Moalboal for a few days to repack the car and get ready for the next massive chapter of our journey. We’ve got a lot of traveling ahead of us over the next few months!
It’s been a productive and memorable stay on Bantayan, but the road is calling again.
