I’m finally back on the road, and man, it feels good. I’ve been stuck at home, sick for the last 10 to 12 days, and while I’m still not at 100%—maybe more like 75%—I’m healthy enough to travel and more than ready to get moving. We started the day incredibly early, hitting a 7-Eleven at 5:30 AM to fuel up before driving toward Oslob. The goal for today? Whale shark swimming.
The weather was looking promising, which was a huge relief since I’ve been itching to get some good footage. We arrived in Oslob, and walking through the streets brought back a lot of memories from the last time I was here.
Jessa decided to stay on the boat with Liam while I went for the swim. Since it was so affordable, she could still be out there with us without having to get in the water. After a quick orientation, we headed out. Being in the water with those massive whale sharks is always a "cool" experience. It’s one of those things that reminds you why we travel in the first place. Liam seemed a bit unsure about his first boat trip of the day, but it was a successful outing overall.
Once we were back on dry land, we were starving. We stopped for a classic breakfast—pancit, meatballs, and eggs for me, and Jessa went for her usual "carbs on carbs" combo. After eating, we headed over to a local monkey viewing area. It was great to see how much they’ve built up since our last visit. We bought some bananas to feed the monkeys, and they were as greedy as ever! Liam was absolutely fascinated by them, though he did have a little "puke" incident with a banana earlier in the day—I think he’s officially over bananas for a while. Watching him interact with the monkeys and run around was definitely the highlight of the morning.
With the morning activities done, it was time for the next leg of the journey. We drove back to the terminal and caught the boat over to Dumaguete. Honestly, we have zero concrete plans for this trip yet. We’re going to be away for many months, and we’re just figuring it out as we go. We don't even know exactly how long we'll be gone, but that's part of the adventure. We’re just staying far away from home for a while.
We arrived in Dumaguete and checked into Sam’s Bed and Breakfast. We’ve stayed here before, so it felt familiar and comfortable. It was dark by the time we settled in, so we just grabbed some roast chicken for dinner and called it a day.
I woke up the next morning at 7:30 AM, feeling a bit more rested. Jessa and Liam were still sleeping, so I grabbed a power coffee and got to work on some editing and publishing. The plan for the rest of the day is simple: head into Dumaguete City, hit the mall, and just relax. Tomorrow is when the "real" vacation begins.
Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one!
