Welcome back! Today, we are taking you higher than we’ve ever been before—all the way to the top of the Ginatilan mountains to a place called Camp Toyoktok. If you think the view from our house project is good, just wait until you see the 360-degree panorama from up here. It is absolutely breathtaking and a reminder of why we chose this specific part of Cebu to be our home.
The journey up to Camp Toyoktok is an adventure in itself. You really feel the transition from the lowlands to the high "bukid." The air gets cooler, the greenery becomes even more lush, and the noise of everyday life just fades away. For me, coming from Norway, I’m used to impressive landscapes, but there is something about the rolling tropical mountains meeting the distant sea that is uniquely Filipino and incredibly peaceful.
In this video, I wanted to capture that "free aircon" feeling. That’s what the locals call the cool mountain breeze, and up here, you really don't need anything else. We spent the day just soaking in the atmosphere. We had little Liam with us, of course, and seeing him enjoy the fresh, pollution-free air is one of the biggest rewards of this lifestyle. He’s a true "mountain boy" now, and he seems just as mesmerized by the clouds and the heights as we are.
Camp Toyoktok itself is a gem. It’s one of those places that showcases the raw, natural beauty of Ginatilan without being overly commercialized. Standing at the peak, you can look out over the municipalities below and see the vastness of the ocean. It gives you a real sense of perspective. When you’re up here, the stresses of construction, lockdowns, or daily logistics just seem to melt away. It’s a place for reflection and for reconnecting with what matters.
I also loved seeing the reaction from the community in the comments. It turns out Ginatilan is the hometown of many of our viewers' families, and sharing these hidden spots like Camp Toyoktok brings back a lot of memories for them. Whether you're watching from EU, US, or right here in Cebu, that connection to the land is something we all share.
What I wanted to convey most in this vlog is the importance of finding these quiet spots. Life can get busy, even in the province, but taking the time to climb a little higher and look at the world from a different angle is essential. It’s part of the "VibePinas" philosophy: stay grounded, but don't be afraid to reach for the peaks.
The view from the top is a reminder of the potential of this area. Ginatilan has so much to offer beyond the well-known falls and coastal roads. Places like Camp Toyoktok are the soul of the mountains. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and more in love with our mountain life than ever.
Thanks for joining us on this trek to the top. I hope the views brought a little bit of peace to your day, wherever you are in the world. Stay real, stay adventurous, and I’ll see you in the next one!
